IT'S EASY TO VOLUNTEER AT THE FOOD PANTRY

We need people like you. People who recognize that while we all come from different backgrounds, we’re all one community. And by working together we can ensure everyone living in our community has the nutritious food they need to thrive. Our volunteer staff consists of individuals who are working, going to school, retired, furloughed and unemployed. We also welcome small groups and/or families who like to volunteer together.

Would you enjoy:

  • Being part of a human assembly line filling client food boxes with frozen meat, baked goods and fresh fruits and vegetables?
  • Interacting directly with our clients?
  • Building up your biceps without going to the gym?
  • Putting your creative writing skills to use while working from home?
  • A volunteer activity your group/team/family can do together?
  • Starting those community service hours you need to complete?

All of these volunteer opportunities are possible. Whether you’re looking to commit to a few hours a week or a few hours a couple of times a year, we can use your support.

REQUIREMENTS

Most of our volunteer opportunities are Monday and Thursday mornings. However, from time to time we also have opportunities if you wish to work in the evening, weekend or from home.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age (14 with a guardian). Most of our volunteer opportunities also require you to be able to move freely, stand for several hours at a time, bend, reach and lift up to 30 pounds. You will be asked about any physical limitations when you register so we can accommodate you.

At the present time, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, all volunteers are required to wear a mask.  All volunteers, whether vaccinated or not, are asked to stay home if you have been exposed to the coronavirus, do not feel well, or show symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Volunteers handling unpackaged foods must wear disposable gloves. We continue to monitor the Coronavirus outbreak and will update our procedures, as needed, to protect the health and well-being of our volunteers, staff and clients.

All volunteer opportunities must be scheduled—no drop in volunteering is permitted. Volunteers are also encouraged to wear appropriate clothing knowing it may get dirty or stained as well as comfortable shoes as you can be on your feet up to 3 hours. Aprons are available, as is rain gear if you are working outside.  Please park on the grass nearest to the baseball field and leave your valuables at home as we have limited space for personal belongings.
